I am feeling sorry for myself tonight.
We have drinks at work every two months and I decided I just can't cope with people being around all the things I can't do, and frankly I can't be bothered trying to explain it any more.
Even though the senior staff are supposed to attend, at least for a little while my reaction tonight is "bugger this for a game, I'm going home"
Night all...

Visiting the Vampires
Don't get me wrong, I love the red cross, and I think they do a fantastic job. It's just my way of saying that I am back from my first venesection session this afternoon.
You don't need to be in my state to give blood (but if you are, it WILL help you), it doesn't hurt and you're doing a good thing for people you'll never get to meet.
Get a group of people together from the office and make a party out of it. I dare you

Back to the dietician
I can confirm that already I have lost may patience and sense of humour.
But I've also lost 2.5Kg and 2cm off my waistline. Not bad for the first two weeks really

My birthday party
My lovely wife took me to "Billy Kwong" for dinner tonight, where we had:
Crispy Organic Salt Bush & Tatsoi Cakes with Homemade Chilli Sauce
Steamed Silken Tofu with Ginger, Shaved Kombu, Chilli, Shiro Shoyu & Biodynamic Sesame Oil
Stir-Fried Organic Salt Bush Leaves with Young Ginger
Crispy-Skin Pasture-Fed Duck with Organic Quandongs & Organic Orange Sauce
The Shaved Kombu was perhaps the most amazing thing I have seen on a plate in a long time. If you told me it was muslin, I would have believed you based on the appearance!
Then home for a home-made no sugar cheesecake. Thanks everyone!

Happy Birthday to me!
Made it through another year, and even though this one hasn't gotten off to the most auspicious of starts, I am going to make the best of it.
On advice from Duncan the Dietician "not to take it too seriously", I treated myself to bacon and eggs for breakfast.
At least I am honest about it!

Meet my new best friend
Dieticians are a funny bunch, and Duncan is no different. To start with, he looks like he's about 15 and does more listening than talking.
The first question he asked me was "on a scale of 1 - 10, how serious are you?". Without hesitation, I answered "11", and he drilled in on this.
Allow me to explain:
I have four kids, aged from 3 1/2 up to 26, and they along with my wife are the most important things in the world to me. What the last month's results have given me a simple choice. Either I take control of things, get help where I need it and change, or I can die. Not immediately, but I certainly won't get to see my daughter's (miss 3 1/2) children growing up.
In the end, it's a no-brainer from a decision-making point of view.
Interestingly enough, my diet has not been too bad overall, except that:

- I eat too much of everything
- I eat at the wrong times. There's no regular eating pattern
